How to Prepare Your Uniform for Mailing

A quick guide to getting your uniform ready to send — and what happens once it arrives.

1. Choose the Uniform Pieces You Want Used

You don't need to send the entire uniform unless you want to. Most headcovers only require:

  • A shirt or blouse
  • A pair of pants
  • Or specific sections (pockets, name tapes, rank patches)

If you want certain elements included — name tape, rank, branch, unit patch, or a specific camo section — leave them attached. We'll position them during the design phase.

2. Do NOT Cut the Uniform

Leave the uniform intact. Our team will:

  • Identify the best sections
  • Cut the fabric cleanly
  • Preserve patches and seams
  • Maximize usable material

Keeping it whole ensures nothing important gets damaged.

3. Clean the Uniform (Optional but Recommended)

A freshly washed uniform is easier to work with. You can:

  • Machine wash on a gentle cycle
  • Avoid heavy detergents or bleach
  • Air dry or tumble dry low

If the uniform has sentimental value and you prefer not to wash it, that's perfectly fine — we'll handle it with care.

4. Fold the Uniform Neatly

Fold it like you would for storage:

  • Smooth out wrinkles
  • Fold sleeves and legs inward
  • Keep patches facing outward if possible

This helps us quickly identify the areas you want featured.

5. Place It in a Protective Bag

Use:

  • A zip-top plastic bag,
  • A garment bag, or
  • A clean shopping bag

This protects the fabric from moisture during shipping.

6. Package It Securely

Put the bagged uniform into:

  • A padded envelope, or
  • A small shipping box

Add a note inside with:

  • Your name
  • Your order number
  • The style of headcover (driver, fairway, hybrid, putter)
  • Any special instructions (which patches to feature, preferred layout, etc.)

7. Ship It to HackSmith

Use any carrier you prefer — USPS, UPS, FedEx. We'll confirm receipt and begin the design process immediately.
